The Council, Management, and Staff of the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) deeply regret to announce the untimely and tragic passing of Mrs. Annie Jere Chalera, who lost her life in a car accident along the Midima Road near the Nguludi Turn-off. She was rushed to Nguludi Health Centre but sadly did not survive.
Mrs. Chalera joined MUBAS as a Lecturer in the Department of Mining Engineering, where she quickly became a vibrant and influential figure. She was not only admired for her strong academic credentials and dedication to teaching, but also for the warmth, humility, and mentorship she offered to students and colleagues alike. Her passion for mining engineering and her commitment to the development of Malawi’s mineral sector were evident in everything she did.
Beyond the lecture rooms, Mrs. Chalera was known as a compassionate soul, a dependable teammate, and a symbol of resilience and professional integrity. Her sudden departure is an irreplaceable loss to the university community and the nation at large.
We extend our deepest condolences to her husband, family, friends, students, and all who had the honor of knowing and working with her.
May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
